Learning and caring together

Year 3

Welcome everyone to Year 3! My name is Miss Kendall and I am the class teacher.

Year 3 is an exciting year for children at Handale as they make the transition from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2 and embark on a new learning journey with us. We can assure you that your child will have lots of fun whilst learning this year. We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum that stimulates curiosity, inspires and engages children. In Year 3, we recognise every child as an individual and provide appropriate levels of support and challenge for all learners in order for them to make excellent progress. Children in Year 3 regularly receive feedback and reflect on their own learning in order to grow and develop as learners. In class, we promote a ‘growth mindset’ approach to learning and encourage positivity and perseverance in all areas of school life. In Year 3, we want to promote hard work and happiness and we therefore focus on developing children’s’ personal, social and emotional wellbeing alongside the curriculum. We are very lucky to be able to enjoy a calm classroom environment, with access to iPads and laptops as well as continuing to enjoy the school’s extensive outdoor areas and the school library to further enhance learning experiences.

Year 3 Long Term Plan

Throughout the year, we teach a variety of stimulating and exciting topics to engage the children in their learning. We aim for all pupils to develop a lifelong love of learning and develop the basic skills and knowledge to prepare our children for Year 4.
