Good Morning, thank you to those who joined the Marvellous Me app. This will be used to celebrate your child’s successes and keep in contact. Please can those who still need to join check your emails for the joining code and respond with your permission slip.

Today you will be recapping your word family list. Please complete the tasks to check your understanding of your word family list.

  1. Write out 4 pairs of homophones?
  2. Create a sentence using alliteration.
  3. Place an item in your house. Write out a sentence explaining where it is. Underline the preposition.
  4. Create a sentence using a simile.
  5. Explain how we use determiners. How do we decide between an and a?
  6. Write a multi-clause sentence using the conjunctions however and because.

For your English task today, you are going to be creating an exciting setting description for a location in the story of Hansel and Gretel. Hansel and Gretel is our traditional tale that we are exploring over the half term.

Reading

For reading this afternoon, I would like you to complete the VIPERS session. We are going to be reading a section from Wonder. This book is about a young boy who looks different. He is just about to start his new journey at school. The main theme of Wonder is kindness and helps us understand that kindness can make a big difference.

Predict

Before you read this section, I would like you to predict how you think August felt before he started school. He has never been there before and is nervous of how people will treat him.
