Wednesday 24th February
Good morning Year 2, I hope you didn’t find yesterday too much of a challenge after a week off. I am really pleased with the work you produced. Please remember it is really important that you complete daily learning as it will prepare you for when you all return.
Here is your timetable for today…
I will not be available for the English zoom at 10am today as I have a meeting. If your child needs my help, please connect at 9:45 and I will be available for 10 minutes.
|many, any, only, would, should, after, door, improve, floor, poor, parents, clothes, busy, again, even, everybody|
This week you are working on common exception words. Please start by writing your sentences out above in rainbow writing (different colours). After you have completed that, please write out and finish the sentences below.

It has been over a week since our last handwriting session so please look at the image below and practise your handwriting. Remember our hand writing needs to be the best we can do all the time and it is important that you take care when writing.
So as you know, this half term, we are learning how to write a non-chronological report. Yesterday, you managed to find lots of key ingredients and I was very impressed. To begin your lesson today, please watch the video below.
As I explained in the video, you are going to be working on sub-headings. You are going to pick two of the sub-headings from below and write some fantastic sentences. Remember you have to stick to the sub-headings and tell me relevant information. Don’t write things which are not linked to the sub-heading.
- What do I look like?
- What are my hobbies and interests?
- What is my personality like?
- What are my favourite foods and drinks
Remember it is very important to use the skills which you know when you are writing. Use conjunctions, different sentence types, adjectives, verbs and adverbs and do what I like you to do best – SHOW OFF and show me how good you really are.
Read my example below before you write your own.
Please complete the Maths Meeting below:
In Maths today, we are going to be completing column addition but it is going to get a little bit harder because we will be crossing 10. Please watch the video below to understand how to do it. In the video, I show you how to do it concretely, pictorially and abstractly. You might need to watch the video a couple of times because it is quite a tricky concept to grasp.
After you have watched the video, please complete the calculations below. Remember, you have to use column addition to work out the answers, please show me your working out using the method from the video.
|29 + 15 =|
38 + 26 =
45 + 37 =
25 + 55 =
68 + 29 =
Parents – please let me know how your child got on with the method, it is important that you let me know if they struggle.
Today, you are going to create your own book. First, I want you to think about a title for your book, write it down and design a front cover. After you have drawn your front cover, please write four sentences to create a blurb. Remember a blurb tells the reader a little bit about the book without giving too much away.
This half term we are going to be learning all about Kenya as part of our Geography work. I know how much you love drawing so I have a perfect task for you. I want you to google African animals and then draw 5 of your favourite African animals. Have a look at the pictures below to help you.
Well done Year 2!
Well done, you have completed another day of home learning and we are another day closer to all being back together again.
Remember to send me your work so I can see how well you have completed the tasks.
