This weeks spellings are homophones. Homophones are words that sound the same but have different meanings and spellings. You will need to know the meanings for the words as well as how to spell them for your spelling test this week.

Today you will be focussing on using coordinating conjunctions.
Coordinating conjunctions join two main clauses to create a compound sentence.

Look at the sentences below. They are missing coordinating conjunctions. Select from the conjunctions above so that the sentence make sense.
- I wanted to go swimming _____ the swimming pool was closed.

Challenge: Can you make the simple sentence below into a compound sentence by adding a coordinating conjunction to join on a main clause? How many different ways can you do it?

We will be starting our new unit in writing today. This half term, you will be writing recounts. You may remember these from Key Stage 1. We will be writing diary entries for our recounts.
Just like we would do at the start of a new writing unit in school, you will be having a go at writing a diary entry today to show me what you already know. Your task for today is to write a diary entry based on a day from half term or a day recently that you can recount.
Think carefully about what a diary includes. How should you start? How will you order the events? How will you make it interesting to read? What tense will you write in? Remember, I don’t expect you to know everything at this stage. This activity is to demonstrate what you know about writing diary entries currently.
I have included a list below to remind you of some of the writing skills you have been taught this year, that you may wish to include. You do not have to include all of these things. It is just there to remind you of the skills that you could use. Remember, this is to show me what you know about diary entries already so you may choose to include skills and features that are not on the list below.
- simple, compound and complex sentences
- Sentences of 3
- Froted adveerbials, simile openers, -ing openers
- Similes, powerful adjectives, verbs and adverbs
- Neat, legible handwriting – some of you should be trying to join.
Today, I would like you to practice your 4 times table.

This week you will be focussing on the 8 times table. Please make sure that you use TTRS daily to practice these tables as well as the tables we have already explored this year. It is really important that you have a quick recall of the facts learned so far.
Today is your VIPERS session.

Today in music I would like you to develop your rhythm skills. Watch the video below and practice clapping the rhythms.
Today in art you will be looking at Tudor portraits. The Tudors were a family that ruled England and Wales from 1485 to 1603. We will be learning about some of the Tudor Monarchs in history this half term.
A portrait is a portrayal of a person, usually showing the person’s face . A portrait can be a painting, a photograph, an ink drawing, a sculpture — or even a description in words or in a film.
I would like you to look at the portaits below and answer the following questions:
- What do you like about the portraits? Why?
2. What do you dislike? Why?
3. What is similar about all of the portraits?
4. Which is your favorite portrait? Why?
5. How have the portraits been made? Which materials have been used to create them?
5. What do the portraits tell us about the Kings and Queens?
