Learning and caring together

Tuesday 13th July 2021

Good morning Year 4, I hope you are all okay 🙂

We are onto Day 2 of online learning, YOU CAN DO IT!

Please email me your work at the end of the day to athompson@handale.rac.sch.uk. It was great to see what you all got up to yesterday. Keep being amazing!

Spelling

For your spelling session this morning, I would like you to log onto spelling shed and complete the assignment set. I have challenged you to practise Year 5 Magic 20 spellings. Give it your best go!

English

For English today, I would like you to use your poetic skills and create an acrostic poem based on Handale Primary School. Can you remember what an acrostic poem is? In an acrostic poem, the first letter of each line spells a word. The word is the subject of the poem. Use upper level adjectives and creative vocabulary.

Maths

For maths today, I would like you to recap your skills in fractions. Complete the 8 questions below.

Reading

For reading this afternoon I would like you to read a book to an adult. Make sure to record this in your reading record.

Whilst reading, please can you select some tricky vocabulary words from your text and clarify these words. What do they mean? Why are they used? Use the internet to help you if you don’t know what they mean.

Also, whilst reading, look at some difficult explanation phrases you might not understand and ask a parent what they mean. If you are still struggling, type it in google and write down what you find.

At the end of your reading session, I would like you to summarise what has happened. What did you learn? What did you not expect?

When you’ve done that, take some time to just relax and read for another 5 or 10 minutes. Enjoy your reading time.

Afternoon

Whilst we are all inside, we need to make sure we are staying active. This afternoon, I would like you to pick your favourite Just Dance and get moving! I have linked my favourite 🙂
