Good morning Year 4! Its world book day! Today we are going to be having lots of fun with reading. Reading books allows us to broaden our imagination and expand our understanding of the world. Your first challenge today is….

Spelling (15 minutes)

Today in spelling, I would like you to practise your spellings using rainbow writing. Grab a few colouring pens or pencils and alternate after each letter. Here is an example:

option

trying crying drying frying carrying hurrying marrying supplying worrying replying

situation creation relation imagination organisation ambition position revolution solution fiction introduction caution description  conservation punctuation

Reading Task 1

I want you to start your day by creating a book cover. We are going to focus on the author ‘Roald Dahl’. I want you to pick your favourite book written by ‘Roald Dahl’ and create a new front cover for it.

  • How creative can you get?
  • What will the character look like?
  • Can you add further detail

Reading Task 2

For your second reading task, I would like you to start by listening to one of my favourite chapters from Charlie and the chocolate factory.

I would like you to use your inference skills and use the story of Charlie and The Chocolate factory to invent your own creation. You need to draw and label your creation, and make sure you add lots of colour too! After that, I would like you to write a short paragraph explaining how your creation works!
