Learning and caring together

Thursday 28th January – Reception

Hello Reception,

I hope you are all ok and working very hard. Today is Thursday which means we are almost at the weekend. Can you remember the days of the week? You could also tell someone in your family which month your birthday is in? Is it going to be soon?

Please can I remind parents to check the email sent regarding Marvellous Me. I will be sending daily messages via Marvellous Me and also rewarding badges to the people who send me work. If you haven’t done so already, please could you send me a picture of your signature as permission to use your child’s photos on the Marvellous Me app.

Please remember I will do 2 drop-in zoom sessions a day, one at 10.30am and one at 2pm. You can ask any questions you wish to or show me some of your work. I will also read a story on an afternoon so feel free to drop in.

This morning your job is to practice writing some numbers. I have had a go at writing the numbers myself, watch my video and then have a practice yourself.

This morning we are going to do some mindfulness. I am going to try it too and maybe you could ask your family to join in.

Phonics Activity

In phonics today we are going to recap the phonics flashcards, practice reading some words and spelling some words. After watching the video, I would like you to spell some of the words from the video and then choose one word to put into a sentence. Remember your capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

Maths Activity

For our maths activity today we are going to look at different ways of putting 10 animals into two different fields. Watch the video to see the different ways of sorting the animals into two fields.

After watching the video, I would like you to collect some animals or objects from around your house and think of ways of sorting them into two fields or two groups. How many different ways can you do it?

Reading

This week is National Storytelling Week. Therefore, I thought it would be lovely if we could tell the story of the Three Little Pigs together. Please watch the video and join in to tell the story with me.

Other activities:

  • Read a phonics book on oxford owl or you can read your own phonics book if you have one. Remember to keep practicing so you become fluent with reading. Free eBook library | Oxford Owl from Oxford University Press.
  • Do some exercises. Can you do 5 star jumps, 5 jumps, 5 push ups and 5 hops?
  • Draw a picture of our school. Maybe you could draw all of your friends on the playground.
  • Practice ordering some numbers from 1-20.
  • Watch Geraldine the Giraffe learning the ‘y’ phoneme.

Well done Reception, your work for today is complete. Please try and upload your child’s work by completing the submission below. Please note, your child’s work will not be published on the website, it will be sent privately to me. Alternatively, if you have trouble uploading it below, please email the work over to me.
