Good morning Year 4, today is your last day of online learning as tomorrow will be a technology free day. Work hard, send your fantastic work and have fun!

Spelling (15 minutes)

Today in spelling, I would like you to practise your spellings using rainbow writing. Grab a few colouring pens or pencils and alternate after each letter. Here is an example:

Handwriting (15 minutes)

Today you will be practising your handwriting skills. I know how well you can write so please focus on this. You will be looking at the letter e today. Watch the YouTube clip to perfect your formation:

English (45 minutes)

Today in English, you will be understanding how to use formal language. Watch this video from the BBC to understand formal and informal language. You will be using formal language when writing your explanation texts.

In todays session you have 4 tasks to complete. Watch this video and pause when needed:

Task 1– Read the statements carefully and decide whether they are formal or informal. Look at the vocabulary each statement uses and how it sounds.

Task 2– Write one paragraph (at least six sentences) about what you got up to last weekend.Write it informally, as if you are writing to your best friend. 

Task 3– Write one paragraph (at least six sentences) about something you enjoy doing. You now need to write this formally. Pretend you are writing to Mrs Padgett.

Reading
