Learning and caring together

Thursday 21st January

Good morning Year 2, please have a look at the timetable for today. Enjoy your learning and keep working hard.

The English zoom session is at 10am, the Maths zoom session is at 11:30am and the afternoon zoom session is at 2:15pm.

Here are your spellings below:

patting, slapping, tapping, clapping, grabbing, tagging, cramming,

strapping, begging, stepping

quickly, carefully, happily, angrily, loudly, calmly

Today, in spelling, I would like you to write each spelling with your right hand and then repeat the activity with your left hand.

After you have done that, please put 5 of them into sentences like my example below:

I am clapping my hands happily to the music – I have used two spellings in that sentence. Can you do the same?

Today in phonics, you are going to think of rhyming words. Look at the words below and see if you can think of three words to rhyme with each one.

After you have completed your first activity, look at each word and underline them using the following colours

  • If the word is a noun, underline it blue.
  • If the word is an adjective, underline it green.
  • If the word is a verb, underline it red.

Today in English, we are going to continue with our story mountain. Yesterday, you all completed the beginning paragraph so what section do you think you will be writing today? We are going to be writing the build up. For the build up section we are going to write about the following events:

  • Snow White running away
  • Snow White finding the cottage
  • Snow White cleaning the cottage
  • Snow White meeting 6 of the dwarves

I would then like you to watch and join in with Jo Wicks on the video below.

After you have watched the video, talk to someone about how you feel. Do you feel tired or do you have more energy? Are your muscles aching? Are you out of breath?

Well done Year 2!

Your learning for today is complete. Please attach your work below or send it to me via email on rprice@handale.rac.sch.uk. Please note, if you do attach the work below, it will be sent separately to me and will not appear on the website for everyone to see.
