Learning and caring together

Small Learning Community

Welcome everyone to the Small Learning Community! My name is Miss Kendall, I am the class teacher and Miss Hood is our teaching assistant.

The Small Learning Community (SLC) is a very caring and nurturing environment for those children within it. We believe that for some pupils, a more personalised approach to learning is essential for them to reach their full potential academically, socially and emotionally. With only a small number of children accessing from across Key Stage 2, the children in SLC receive a more individualised curriculum and quality teaching, based on the key skills required as well as the knowledge of the individual. We aim to provide a happy, exciting and stimulating environment which promotes enjoyment in school, encouraging self-belief and achievement. We are very lucky to have two members of staff in the SLC. Small group work and challenges are carried out daily, personalised to the individual allowing the children to progress at different paces where needed. Our Learning environment is key to success and the children love being in the SLC.
