Nursery

Welcome to Handale Nursery. We aim to create a welcoming and secure environment in which your child will have the opportunity to grow as an individual and become an independent learner. We encourage an active partnership between all our parents/carers and Nursery.   We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage and believe that children learn through play. Our nursery environment is set up to support this. Throughout the session children will have the opportunity to play in both our indoor and outdoor environments. During your child’s time in nursery, staff will record learning and progress through our planning and assessment. We document successful learning, linked to our curriculum in our Early Years Books. These are shared with you regularly but are also available to see on request should you wish. We encourage that you as the parent/carer add to your children’s Early Years Books. 

Nursery Hours:

  • Morning Nursery – 8.30-11.30am
  • Afternoon Nursery – 12.15 – 3.15pm (gate is opened from 3.05pm to allow for older siblings to be collected from school)

Flexi places – there are limited spaces for children to attend:

  • Monday, Tuesday – 8.30am – 3.15pm and Wednesday – 8.30 – 11.30am
  • Wednesday 12.15 – 3.15pm and Thursday, Friday – 8.30am – 3.15pm

30 hour places:

We also offer 30 hour spaces for children whose parents work 16 hours or more per week.

Nursery Staff:

The Nursery team are very approachable and encourage parents to discuss any concerns, no matter how trivial at the earliest opportunity. The team consists of:

Home Loan Scheme:

All nursery children bring home 2 books each week that they can share with their parents/carers. Once they have taken home 30 books they will receive a FREE book to keep.

Phonics:

Within nursery all children take part in phonics activities based on the Letters and Sounds programme. Click on the link below to find ways to support this at home:
