SPAG (15 minutes): Commas
Commas are a very important part of writing because they can be used in a variety of ways. They can be used in: a list, after openers, to split clauses and to avoid confusion. Today you are going to focus on commas to add extra information, which we know as an embedded relative clause.
Task 1 – rewrite each sentence with the commas in the correct place to show the extra information.
The charity auction which raised hundreds of pounds was a great success.
Pepperoni my favourite pizza topping is a kind of sausage.
The shepherd who’d lost all his sheep was very upset.
Task 2 – rewrite the sentences below, adding the embedded relative clause, making sure you use commas where they are needed.
Writing (45 minutes): To use a box up plan
Over the next two days, we are going to reflect on the year 2020. As a school, we want every child to write a letter about the year 2020 so that in the future other children can read these letters and understand what was so different about that year. Today, you are going to create a box up plan to help with your letter, which you will write tomorrow.
Look at my box up plan ideas on the video to help you. Good luck.
Maths Meeting: Converting a mixed fraction into an improper fraction (15 minutes)
I want you to convert your fractions from a proper mixed fraction into an improper fraction. Look at the example given to you. You need to times the whole number by the denominator and then add the remaining numerator to get your improper fraction.
Maths: Decimals (45 minutes)
Today, you are going to be moving onto thousandths. This is the third column after the decimal point. We have looked at tenths and hundredths previously. Watch the video below.
Challenge: complete the challenge below and explain why using A.P.E (answer, prove, explain).
Inference task –
What is happening here?
Why/how is the carpet floating?
How is the boy feeling? Was he expecting this to happen?
How is the dog feeling? How do you know?
Does this bedroom belong to the boy? What does the setting tell you about his character?
Today, you are going to be looking at the features of a mountain or a mountain range. Watch the video below and then complete the following task.
Task: As you know from the video I want you to draw another mountain with all the key features. You have to work out each feature from it’s definition given below.
Relax, enjoy a story to yourself and reflect on your day.
I am proud of your efforts.
