Costa Local Heroes Awards 2018

We are delighted to announce that Handale Primary School has been awarded “Highly Commended” status in the annual Costa Local Heroes awards. Pupils from our Year 6 cohort have been recognised for their hard work and commitment to improving their local environment through their many litter picking sessions, cleaning up the local area and also working with the Local Authority to make East Cleveland a safer and cleaner place to live in. We’re extremely proud of all of the children’s efforts and are keen to see where this ongoing project can take them next.

Fantastic Footballers!

On Tuesday 10th July, Our Year 4 and 5 football teams participated in a tournament at St Peter’s. Both the girls and the boy’s team got off to a great start and got through to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, the boys were defeated and lost 2-0 to Skelton however their efforts and attitudes were excellent. The girls were successful and Ebony Garland managed to get the girls team through to the final with a golden goal, finishing 1-0 to Handale. The final game was very close and an excellent game to watch, the girls won 2-1, Mary Thomas got the winning goal and they were well deserved winners of the tournament winning every game. Both teams were fantastically behaved and a pleasure to take out. The boys happily cheered on the girls in the final and it was lovely to watch and see them so encouraging. Well done Handale, you were amazing and a credit to the school.

East Cleveland Olympics

The super exciting East Cleveland Olympics were held during July 2018 at St Peter’s school, Brotton, where  22 of our children attended. They showed fantastic team play and amazing support to each other, as we battled out several track and field events to successfully take home 3rd place. What an amazing result and all children displayed outstanding behaviour throughout the day, well done!

Key Stage 1 Moderation

This half term, we have been externally moderated in Year 2. This is a process whereby trained moderators check the accuracy of our end of Key Stage assessments and judgements, on behalf of the Local Authority. The moderators were extremely complimentary about the standards and provision in Year 2, and the teacher’s in depth knowledge of each individual. We would like to say a huge well done to all of the Year 2 children and staff, it has been a tremendous year and the results are exceptional.
